Subject: [Mpls] FW: Global education
[MA]: I recently commented on the Peace/Global curriculum in my
neighborhood school. I was not aware then that this is an international
movement sponsored by the United Nations and is actively taught in the
Minneapolis Public Schools under the title of the International
Baccalaureate program.
[JO]: Reply:
My children were in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at
Patrick Henry H.S. Only two H.S. schools offered this program. There were
a limited number of slots but I was pleased that my children were able to
pursue critical thinking on an International basis. Their final exams
were graded by educators in Singapore and other participating countries.
A truly world class education AND evaluation.
When one child went to the University of Chicago (UC) on scholarship
at age 16, the main problem was not being able to get University of
Minnesota (UM) credits transferred. She tested through the subject areas
and received credit from UC. The inflexibility of UC, not the IB or UM
education capabilities, was the problem.
Minneapolis Public Schools provide several Magnet opportunities.
Please choose one that fits best with your children. Please do not
attempt to destroy opportunities for others who may have different views.

Thanks.
