GUARD ART at the Stevens Square Center for the Arts
February 7, 2004 7 PM � Midnight
Minneapolis � Stevens Square Center for the Arts presents an Opening Night Party and
Gallery Reception on Saturday, February 7 featuring work by security guards from the
Walker Art Center, the Weisman Art Museum, and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
A Closing Night Gallery Reception will be held on Saturday, February 28 from 7 PM -
Midnight.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Music by Ben
Glaros, Jeff Nicols, and others. Closing Night music by Telephone. The Stevens Square
Center for the Arts is located in the former police sub-station at 1905 Third Avenue
S., upstairs from the Third Avenue grocery.
Free Parking available. Enter parking lot on Nineteenth Street.

Art Center, the Weisman Art Museum or the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. --
About the Stevens Square Center for the Arts:
The mission of the SSCA is to provide resources and support to artists at all levels
of development living and working in the vicinity of Stevens Square, and to provide a
forum for member artists to share ideas and work. The SSCA also works to attract
artists to
Stevens Square and develop the reputation as a place where art is created.
The Stevens Square Center for the Arts (SSCA) was initiated and organized by a
co-operative made up entirely of local artists. The SSCA works to provide affordable
studio space, as well as a gallery space and meeting room for artists and neighborhood
organizations.
The February 7 exhibition will feature works by a number of artists working in a
variety of media, including:
- Drew Chial, Drawings
- Sarah Chial, Drawings
- Susan Kangas, Paintings based on Japanese subject matter
- Emily Kaplan
- Jeff Nichols, Collage Paintings
- Jason Onorhein, Photography
- Sam Rowan, Paintings
- Simon Stromberg, Paintings
The exhibition runs from February 7 � February 28, 2004
Regular SSCA Gallery hours are Tuesdays from 6 PM � 8 PM, Saturdays from 3 PM � 7 PM
and Sundays from 1 PM � 5 PM.
