I figure that the recession and the events of 9-11-2001 have cut immigration to Minneapolis from Africa, Asia, and to some degree from Latin America. I suspect that more students classified as "Hispanics" are moving to Minneapolis from other US cites than from Latin America.
>From 1999 to 2002 Native American enrollment in grade one went from 211 to 127; with 168 entering the 4th grade in 2002 - Net decreases are greater than for African-Americans. Asian-American enrollment in grade one went from 572 to 463; with 501 entering the 4th grade in 2002. Net decreases are less than for African-Americans Hispanic enrollment in grade one went from 392 to 516; with 453 entering 4th grade in 2002. Net gains indicating rapid growth of Hispanic population in Minneapolis. -Doug Mann, King Field Author of "Flight from Equality" In a message dated 2/14/2004 12:01:47 AM Central Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: > I didn't see any statistics here discussing imigration and students of > color other than African-Americans - latino populations have > dramatically changed over the last several years.
