I figure that the recession and the events of 9-11-2001 have cut immigration 
to Minneapolis from Africa, Asia, and to some degree from Latin America. I 
suspect that more students classified as "Hispanics" are moving to Minneapolis 
from other US cites than from Latin America.

127; with 168 entering the 4th grade in 2002 - Net decreases are greater than 
for African-Americans.
Asian-American enrollment in grade one went from 572 to 463; with 501 
entering the 4th grade in 2002. Net decreases are less than for African-Americans
Hispanic enrollment in grade one went from 392 to 516; with 453 entering 4th 
grade in 2002. Net gains indicating rapid growth of Hispanic population in 
Minneapolis.
