1) Stability/continuity for the children seems to be a major at this point, driving many of the concerns. WHY haven't we, as a society spoken-up more vocally for those children on the bottom-tier economically in our society that are up-rooted on an almost annual basis. On my block alone, the faces and names of the children my wife and I befriend change completely, almost yearly.
2) Whose problem is this? This single, unwed mother, that's faced an uphill battle her entire life, and is now faced with the daunting task of raising children? Or, all of us, society as a whole?
3) Why is it that it only really becomes a problem when it affects the middle-class, or upper-class of our society? Is it only then, when it affects YOUR child, that it becomes a "real issue"?
4) Many of the parents (mostly single) on the northside, that will be affected by the potential school closings in our neighborhood, are taking it in stride. It's just one more thing they have to cope with. One more "crisis" they have to solve. Moving their children to another school, yet again.
5) I don't necessarily think that the proposed closings are a good idea, but quite honestly, I don't thin it'll make much of a difference to the kids in North Minneapolis, as we forced most of them into a position where they feel changing schools annualy is "normal".
6) Are there bigger issues that significantly affected this proposal (by the school board), and have we done our best in addressing them?
