I want to thank everyone who took the time to call or email me with your thoughts on the NRP Policy Board Chair election that was held this afternoon.
I do think that both Councilmember Ostrow or Representative Mullery are decent public servants with a great deal to offer. After a great deal of thought, discussions with both candidates and taking a variety your your comments and opinions into consideration I ended up voting for who I thought would serve the NRP best as chair over the year ahead. after listening to then both make a final speech at the meeting tonight I voted for Ostrow. I, however, was in the minority. Representative Mullery won and is now the new Chair of the NRP Policy Board. This is the first time in the board history that a state legislator has been chair (as well as the first time there has been a conested election for chair). Joe Mullery clearly has a long track record of neighborhood and community work, has proven himself to be a strong advocate for grassroots, neighborhood empowerment and decisionmaking and has an excellent legal understanding of NRP as well as a long history with the Policy Board. I do look forward to working with Joe and all the new and returning Board members as I am commited to do my best to make NRP the best program possible. If folks are interested in learning more about why I voted as I did I can elaborate off list, or onlist later at your request. I can also be reached by phone. 612 296-0579 There are more highlights of the meeting I will share later. As we get Phase II of NRP going I hope that there will be many things for people to get excited about and involved in. For now, let me once again thank all of you who took the time to call or email me with your views. It was very helpful and I am sure I will turn to you again. Yours in peace and cooperation, Cam Cam Gordon Seward Neighborhood, Minneapolis, Ward 2 SD 59 (612) 296-0579, 339-2452 REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
