A 31 year-old man was shot and killed recently in North Minneapolis. It's been repoted by some that there may have been gang ties to the killing.

I find it rather interesting that the local Council Member - Don Samuels, as is his promise, stood vigil and fasted the entire day, at the spot where the young man was killed. Commissioner Stenglein showed-up to pay his respects. The Mayor and his staff showed-up to pay their respects. And a few locals showed-up to pay their respects.

Has our general populace and the media become so numb to this type of violence that it no longer matters enough to actively take a stand against it? I'd like to suggest that the next time a killing takes place in Council Member Samuels ward, that ALL citizens of conscience take a few minutes of their day to stop by and show there solidarity on this issue. It may very well be your neighborhood next time.
