The detail that is missing is the exact locations of those 800 empty classrooms. I would also be curious to know when they became empty and / or when Mr. Jennings become aware that they were empty. Seems to me, that is significant data that was not made public until, well, the actual data has yet to be made public. Let's start with the facts, and then proceed from there.

[JM] I want to expand on this point. Kari Tauring tells me she asked Sharon Henry-Blythe point blank for the cost/benefit analysis data regarding the closing of the schools. Sharon was evasive, but it appeared that such an analysis was never done.

Kari, who is running for school board, asked if such data would be available to her if she were to win and have to vote on school closing later. Sharon invormed Kari that the school board is a policy making body and strives not to make work for the district.

Whereas that may well be good policy one would think that there has to be some data backing up a proposal to close 10 of our schools.

Not only is that data not available to the publc - It's apparently not even available to the school board.

I'm not neccessarily arguing that schools do or don't need to be closed, but we do need an open process for such descisions to be made. Part of that process should be that real data is made available to the public.
