We didn't start the regional/class war. They attacked us. Just like Pearl Harbor.
The Enemy is at the gates. The inner cites are surrounded by Enemy forces. They are denying us our jobs, our medicine, our food supplies. The Enemy artillery is aiming most of its shells at low-income neighborhoods. Some suburban bus riders who live in pedestrian-unfriendly places are trapped between the lines. The bus strike is having a big effect on urban retail businesses. You would be surprised at the variety of businesses impacted by the strike. Pawlenty and the Republicans who control state government forced the bus strike. The Rich Taxpayers League dominates the Republican Party and the Republican Party dominates state government. Pawlenty had to pledge allegience to the Rich Taxpayers League before receiving the Republican endorsement. Many Republican legislators made the same pledge. Here are two good articles from the Pioneer Press on health insurance and the bus strike: Laura Billings points toward single payer, in the context of the bus strike: http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/8154389.htm Economist Edward Lotterman explains the economic and societal benefits of transit: http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/8155832.htm What does the initials "TPT" stand for, anyway? Does it stand for "Television for Upper Class Twits"? There hasn't been any coverage of the bus strike on Almanac or At The Capitol for the last three weeks. We seen to be winning the battle for public opinion. Most bus riders and urban residents blame the strike on Pawlenty and the Republicans. What if the appeal to conscience doesn't work? If Tom DeLay was Governor a strike might last for six months. Maybe Pawlenty will change his mind on binding arbitration! That would be a face-saving way to end the strike. As Gandhi said, we have to make the injustice visible. Ed Fesler [EMAIL PROTECTED] Minneapolis Corcoran __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
