Do you think that the ATU 1005 ...(the bus drivers' union) has done a good job of communicating with the public about their issues?
Have they been as effective as they could be in getting bus riders together and using us as a force to support them? I was surprised that they did nothing to arrange transportation for the bus-less car-less public to the capitol. There have been three rallies now, one at the Heywood Garage, one at the U and one at the capitol. Has any progress been made as a result of these rallies? It seems to me that no grassroots organizing is going on, (maybe the union leaders need to attend a camp Wellstone) and they don't seem to be mobilizing and growing the support they got at rallies from the teamsters and AFSCME. It also seems like the people who support the bus drivers in their strike and the larger issue of increased funding for mass transit are not being brought together to resolve this strike.
