(Savannah, Georgia) Savannah City Council voted Thursday night to oppose amending the Georgia constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
The unanimous vote makes Savannah the second city in the state, after Atlanta, to urge state lawmakers to reject legislation to change the state constitution.
If Savannah, Georgia can put itself on record opposing bigoted constitutional amendments, why can't the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County? Will Mayor Rybak show some leadership as Mayor of Minneapolis testify against this legislation when it's heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday?
We have 3 openly gay city council members on this city council - where are they with this?
Will the City of St Paul do this before the City of Minneapolis?
Also the anti-gay Minnesota Family Council provides a way to send email to all legislators on this amendment. You can put your own subject line and text into the email. Senator Higgins mentioned to me that she had been bombarded with emails on this topic - most from outside her district. I believe this is the culprit:

This tool can ofcourse be used to send the entire legislature other items - perhaps something about the Planetarium.
