Any suggestion that the study be completed by a conservatively-biased think tank like the Center for the American Experiment is a BIG RED FLAG.

Massey has hit the nail on the head here. The Center's "study" and recommendations for abolishing the Metropolitan Council, and their anti-transit bias suggest they are ideologs rather than an organization that is going to look at the data - and actually make non-biassed recommendation.

I think the University of Minnesota would be a much better choice for conducting this study than the Center for the American Experiment.

Cheryl Yecke at the Department of Education overseeing the RFP on this issue is a concern to me. Her behavior as Commssioner of Education so far show her to be an ideolog. A recent example of this was her attempt to destroy the effectiveness of a health survey on the states adolescents. She was following the anti-gay Minnesota Family Council's bidding on that one. An outcry over this got her to reverse that decision.

My local branch library is no longer open on Saturdays. It's important to me to have that branch open on Saturdays. It's the most convenient day to go to the library. Whenever I stop by that library on Tuesday, the library is packed and the parking lot is full.

I do think there needs to be discussion of consolidating services. The park police and the City police is one such example. I'm not against merging the Hennepin County and Minneapolis Library system on principle - but the devil is in the details.

Senator Higgins does follow this list. I'd encourage her to explain herself publically here.
