But what actually happens, for example, is that the Eden Prairie bus drives from it's overnight garage in Eden Prairie to park & ride lots and picks up passengers, then drives (nearly full) into downtown Minneapolis. Then the bus is parked in a lot in the downtown area until about 5pm, when it goes to downtown stops to pick up its' passengers, and then drives (again nearly full) back out to the lots in Eden Prairie to let off the passengers, then is driven to the garage to sit overnight.
There is no "long empty drive". There is no point to it, when the bus will be needed again that evening for the return trip.

In general, long express routes do not have the lowest subsidy per passenger trip. That's because of the long empty drive in the non- peak direction.
