[LE]Calling the numbers posted by Mr. Meininger for the Met Council and The Governor's office is completely useless in one favors a resolution or continuation of the bus strike. A call at this point only results at best, in a check mark pro or con on the issue. In addition, phoning creates misery for the receptionist(s) who are only doing their job and have no relationship to the policy and decision making process on this issue.
[JM] I can't let this pass without commenting. Using Lee's logic we should never bother calling our elected officials because our calls will just be checkmarks pro or con and doing so will only create misery for the receptionist. Persumably writing will only create misery for some poor secretary that will have to open and read our letters - We can't have that.
I guess everyone should vote every when the whimsy hits them (maybe every few presidential elections - We don't want to over tax the system) and then sit on our hands and hope things go our way. If not, oh well. No use calling or writing - you wouldn't want to some poor secretary to get a paper cut opening your letter.
I couldn't disagree more. If you're upset about the strike call the governor and CALL OFTEN.
