I would like to encourage all of the people who said that I was lying regarding the departure of Chief Forte based on his pension plan to read the story in todays Star Tribune. I received some really racist e-mail off-list calling me a ni##er, jungle bunny, and several other racially charged terms. It is unfortunate that some people of the list feel that way but to each her/his own. The Tribune article left out several key points which is normal for them.
Why wouldnt Chief Forte be allowed to remain as fire chief and be switched to the new plan? My sources tell me that when he takes his new job that he will enter the citys newer pension plan vested. Why is that?
I personally think that Chief Forte will do excellent in his newly appointed position but his departure from his current position has many political overtures.
For example why is a Battalion Chief being named as his interim successor when she is fourth in command according to the command structure of the fire department? Why isnt the Assistant Chief, Staff Deputy Chief of Operations, or Staff Deputy Chief of Administration being named as interim Chief? Does it have to do with her sexual orientation? Is the Rybak administration trying to win points in the gay community after failing to do so with the appointment of Chief McManus? I would also like to bring attention to the recent gay rights resolution passed by the city. Notice the word Marriage is left out of the resolution, boy do we like to tread the line.
