Finally!

The Pioneer Press has finally criticized the
Metropolitan Council for its intransigence in not
settling the bus strike.

A month ago the Pioneer Press supported the
managemement line all the way.

The Star Tribune broke with Pawlenty on the bus
strike week ago.

Here is the Pioneer Press editorial:

  From the PP editorial:

"With due respect to the Metropolitan Council,
events are well past a point of simply throwing hands
in the air and complaining that there's no money.
Ignoring the needs of transit riders won't make them
go away. It just creates problems elsewhere in lives
and in the economy."

The editorial also criticizes union members for
fighting to keep health care benefits. Wouldn't you
fight to keep something you already have?

In any settlement, the Transit Workers are going to
end up poorer than they were under the old contract.
The only issue is how much the workers are going to
lose.
