Thanks Jim, I really appreciate your comments. After I
have had a little time to process this I am feeling
some real paranoia right now. It's late and I am
feeling too scared to go to bed. I am afraid they
could come back and try to break in and rob us in the
house at gun point. It was hard to give the police an
identity. These young thugs aren't stupid. They don't
make it easy to distinguish them from one another.
They had black hooded sweatshirts on and the hood were
cinched tight around their faces. And when you are
laying on your stomachs face down in the dirt like my
husband and neighbor were forced to do, it's even
harder to identify them.

The thing that is bothering me most about this right
now is that it wouldn't be unusual for my son and the
kids next door to be in the back yard with my husband
and neighbor. Thank God that wasn't the case tonight.

So now we have looked at the security lax around the
perimeter of our house. We decided to work with the
next door neighbor and put up a 6 foot fence so that
it will be harder to get between our houses. We will
also add some motion detector lights. Those would have
at least warned my husband and neighbor someone was
coming and may have discouraged the thugs.

Ironically, I was in the house talking on the phone to
a friend from Ventura Village about planning a block
club meeting for my block soon because we had new
neighbors and the owners of the "corner house from
hell" has rented to another group of thugs. We are
concerned they are dealing and working in consort with
the crappy corner store. Who knows, maybe it's all
connected somehow.
