Can anyone who has walked around the St Anthony lock area question the Crown Hydro project? A work of love by a few people, trying for the last decade to uniquely tie together this historical site. Other river towns have accomplished hydro electric restoration. Why not Minneapolis?
Look at the existing water inlet race. Then walk down and look at the existing water races that will deliver the water back to the river. The addition of the small underground electric generator will clear out the stagnant geese turd backwater that exists today. Now look at the hundred year old hydro electric turbine blade at the US Army Corp of Engineer exhibitor center a few feet away. Read the historical story of this first one in the US. Note the locks draw much more water than the Crown Hydro project. The idea that the project would make the area ?industrial? can only be held by someone lacking the historical knowledge of the Milwaukee Train station, the Mill ruins, the Stone Arch _Rail_ Bridge ( hint - mills and trains are not wilderness nor park like. ) Note the asphalt parking lot that exists today is not unique. The Crown Hydro project certainly beats the Mpls Park staff plans for a kiddy play archeological sand box. I'll love to bring visitors down to look at the running water. Let's join together and get it done. Jeff Fellows Sheridan Neighborhood, Eastside Minneapolis Long time neighbor to the river, long time supporter of the Crown Hydro project. Let the river run through the channels. REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules? Email the list manager at [EMAIL PROTECTED] before continuing it on the list. 2. Don't feed the troll!
