I would like to see the Mayor's office bring this candidate through the same sort of community engagement he did when Chief McManus was appointed as Police Chief. If this is a new policy in determining final endorsement of the Mayor's appointees than the policy should be applied across the board to all department head appointments. Barb Lickness Whittier Just wanted to drop a quick note to let folks know the process that was used to select Ms. Khalifa was actually the same process as was used to select Chief McManus: The Mayor and Council Member Johnson Lee put together a Citizens' Advisory Committee, who worked with them to develop criteria for the position (based on several community summits over the past 2 years); the Citizen Committee interviewed the finalists and provided feedback to the Mayor, who made his final selection.
