The following is sent to you on behalf of Mpls Council Member Don Samuels:
This morning, an armed robbery took place at Jerry's Flower Shop, located at
33rd and Lyndale Avenue North. During the robbery, an employee was shot and
killed. The victim was a 55-year-old man, whose family has owned and
operated the store since 1961.
In response, I will be holding a vigil tomorrow at the scene of the murder
from 9am to 6pm. I strongly urge you to attend if possible, and to forward
this e-mail to others, so that we may present a strong statement against
such senseless violence and loss of life.
Rain is forecast for tomorrow, but we will have a tent. I sincerely hope you
can join me. If you have questions, or need directions, please call my
office during business hours tomorrow at 612-673-2203, and someone will help
you.
What: Vigil for homicide victim at Jerry's Flower Shop
Where: In front of the store, at 33rd and Lyndale Avenue North, Minneapolis
When: Monday, May 17th, 9am to 6pm
Many people in the surrounding area have given up hope of a safe home and
neighborhood. They need to see us out tomorrow. We need to be strong on
their behalf. Together, we are powerful. I urge you to lend your talent,
energy, and presence to this vigil.
In hope for peace,
Don Samuels
