'1,000 Man March' to be held Friday in Minneapolis
May 18, 2004
Community leaders and activists will formally
announce today that a "1,000 Man March" through
north Minneapolis will take place Friday in
response to rising violence.

My comments:
I, too, am sadden by the recent increase in violence and
killing in Minneapolis, especially black on black crime.

As many members of the Mpls Issues List are witnessing, the
African-American community is active in trying to address
many issues like participation in public policy (voting, elections
and public hearings) as well as housing, crime and economic/community
development (Heritage Park, Sear Project
/Mpls Police Department-community relations,etc).

Futhermore, list members are also witnessing/seeing how the black press
like the MN Spokesman-Recorder, Insight News, and OneNation News are reporting
the news from their unique perspective by news articles, columns and
opinion pieces-WOW!!!

Back to the 1,000 Men March, I truly hope the organizers and participates have a ready
action plan after the march is done or will we see the usual-mainsteam media
just get some quotes from community activist (the usual ones)
and some pictures of them.-Thank you.
