Please attend the next Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Meeting.

When: Wednesday, May 19

4:30pm -- Standards and Conduct committee
5:00pm -- Operations and Environment committee
5:00pm -- Administration and Finance committee
      5:00pm -- Regular Meeting

(no mistake, the last 3 are listed as all starting at 5pm -- it appears the 2 committees will be short and sweet)

Where: MPRB Administrative Offices, Board Room Suite 255, 2117 West River Road

If you want to speak during the 6:15pm public comment period, you need to call Diane Hill at 230-6404 before 4pm on Wednesday so that she can add your name to the meeting agenda.

Finding and getting to the MPRB building is easy. It's just north of the Broadway and West River Road intersection, and just north of the iconic Broadway Pizza, along the river north of downtown. The building has plenty of free parking for automobile drivers, and 2 bus lines pass 2 blocks from the building, the #20 and #32.

The Crown Hydro project is on the agenda to be discussed at this meeting. It is possible, and quite likely, a vote to approve the lease negotiated between the Park Board and Crown Hydro to build a power plant at Mill Ruins Park next to St. Anthony Falls may be taken at this meeting.

I believe, but could be proven wrong, that the board will allow public comment on Crown Hydro during this meeting, as well. If so, there may be a sign-up sheet at the entrance at the start of the meeting. It might be safer to telephone Diane Hill at 230-6404 and ask to be sure, however.
