I do have multiple subjects to discuss. In consideration of the 2 post rule and trying to be considerate of members attention, I'll do them over a period of days: (Watch for Bikes, Carleton Crawford and Mpls elections, park board stuff, campaigning in Owatona and maybe even TCMarathon.)
Although I strongly support a Minneapolis ban...(DFLers saw how great Duluth was this weekend and the crowds seemed to show that few left for Superior), there is an alternative which was expressed in a bill I authored (and could not get a hearing on, for those who think a state wide ban is possible). The link to the bill follows: http://www.revisor.leg.state.mn.us/cgi-bin/getbill.pl?number=HF1451&session=ls83&version=latest&session_number=0&session_year=2003 I have sent this info mto several city council members. The critical parts of the bill, still allowing smoking in designated smoking areas, is a requirement for the smoke to be totally contained in the smoking area and strong employee protection measures. This approach led to the total ban of smoking in State buildings but the private sector could take a shot at doing it. Phyllis Kahn State Rep 59B REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
