Here are the top ten excuses for the drinking in Sen. Linda Higgins' office,
and for her behavior when confronted at the DFL State Convention:

10. A drink here, a drink there, pretty soon you're tlalking about a real
party!

9. Shouldn't Trish VanPilsum be driving in a demolition derby or something?
8. We had to party in the office because if we had waited until later it
would have been past some of the staffers' bedtimes.
7. How dare they confront her at the state convention? Paul Wellstone used
to walk around the floor! It's sacred ground!
6. You've got to fight!
For the right!
To paaaarrrr-ty!
5. After a long hard session fighting the powerful corporate lobbyists, we
needed to kick back and relax...um...with lobbyists.
4. We were practicing civil disobedience in response to the draconian
Pawlenty budget cuts.
3. KMSP is a Fox station, after all, and we all know about Fox News....
2. It was a sting. We knew the state office custodians didn't put glass in
the proper recycling bins, so we were setting up to prove it....yeah, that's
it, a sting!
And the number one excuse for partying in the state capital:
1. Geez, it's not like we were SMOKING.
