Hello Minneapolis Folks,
The Smoking Ban ordinances currently has 6 authors
including Council Members Schiff, Zimmerman, Zerby,
Johnson Lee, Samuels, and Niziolek, which means we
need at least one more vote, and it couldn't hurt to
have more. And we need at least 7 to pass and maybe
more depending on the position the Mayor takes.
I would encourage folks to call your City Council
Member and encourage them to support the ban. It
really seems like Council Members such as Ostrow,
Benson, Goodman, and Lillgren would want to support
this bill. Just the health benifits alone will save
Minneapolis millions of dollars by passing this
ordiances.
And it will help business because 80% of the public
does not smoke and the other 20% would like to quit.
Minneapolis would become the safe-haven for people
that want to go out at night but don't want to come
home smelling like an ashtray.
The restaurant and bar industry could market the
benefits as part of a add campaign such as, "ENTERTAIN
IN MINNEAPOLIS, SMELL LIKE YOU SHOWERED, NOT LIKE AN
ASHTRAY!" "ENTERTAIN IN MINNEAPOLIS, AND NO ONE WILL
SMELL THE WISER!"
So, lets help make this smoking ban a reality by
calling our City Council Members!
