I am forwarding this to appropriate staff to see if we can figure this problem out. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. And yes, Steve is absolutely right - our crown jewels should be shining brightly during the busiest time of the year. And a beautiful day today for thousands to be going around the lakes,
thank you,
Annie Young
citywide Park Commissioner

Can't anybody here play this game? That's what it's starting to look like
over on the east shore of Lake Harriet. The bike and pedestrian paths have
been detoured since October around a construction spot. I can understand
scheduling the work for lower-use winter months. What I can't understand is
the lackadaiscal attitude of park officials about finishing the job. The
site sits for weeks on end with no apparent progress. I don't know if the
Park Board is doing the work itself or if it has farmed the project out, but
the length of time taken for this small job shows an astonishing lack of
regard for park users. If the Chain of Lakes indeed attracts as many annual
visitors as Yellowstone National Park, as park officials claim, then
wouldn't one want to have the paths in operating condition for the
highest-use portion of the year?
