I mostly disagree with you. The caveat to this: I disagree with you
assuming that the system works as proposed.

The longest anyone should have to walk is half a mile, out to the nearest
arterial. From there, they can get on a bus, which shouldn't be a big deal
because there are supposed to be timed transfers with the Hiawatha Line.

I'll agree with you on this one. The incredible thing about our LRT system
is that there is absolutely nothing around most of our stops.
Cedar-Riverside stop is about a 5 minute walk from Cedar Avenue.
Franklin Avenue stop is in the middle of nowhere.
Lake Street stop is in the middle of the most terrifying, hideous
intersection I've encountered in my life, and right between two big strip
malls.
38th Street Stop is probably the best of the stops I'm familiar with (not
counting the downtown stops), but it's not so hot either.

That being said, I think this will improve. There are lots of plans in the
works, and I think that if the line gets a good ridership between
endpoints, market forces will conspire to allow those plans to be carried
out. Plus, at 38th Street, there's that huge factory just itching to be
sold.

I can't see that we need tons of parking except toward the endpoints of the
line. Who is going to drive their car to Lake Street to take the LRT
downtown?

Also, bravo to Earl Netwal for pushing for a circulator system. I think
every neighborhood would benefit from something like this. The linear model
doesn't work for everyone, and a circulator would be a fantastic
supplement.

Cedar-Riverside
. . . Where we can't see our LRT station--but we know it's there.
