"My question is have any real cuts been made anywhere??????"
The Police Department management, the Mayor and the Public Safety Committee cut the police department's only crime prevention program. I know 15 people who are displaced and directly impacted. All law abiding citizens are suffering because of those cuts. In an era where money matters, the Mayor calls the only crime prevention program in the City of Minneapolis, "Fat". Guess preventing crime doesn't matter, only responding to crimes after they have happened matters. Guess working with the good citizens doesn't matter, only arresting those who do wrong matters, after the fact. Guess shutting down crack houses doesn't matter. Guess monitoring problem addresses doesn't matter, you can live with it for a while longer, eventually a squad will drive by, or maybe a housing inspector, or a street department crew. Yes, real cuts have been made. Unfortunately they were made in the wrong areas and have hurt the future safety of the city. Remember that preventing crime costs less in actual dollars, which are tax dollars. Responding to crime costs lots of money, and the crime has already happened. You've already been victimized. Twice. Once by the bad guys and once by the city's leaders lack of foresight. Tom Thompson Como Park REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
