Actually, I think the problem with the "slippery slope" argument in this
case is that it overlooks the motivation behind the smoking ban proposal.

It's not to protect smokers from themselves, but to protect others from
being exposed to secondhand smoke.

Few of these "slippery slope" examples are relevant as there is no such
thing as secondhand sun, fast food or alcohol exposure. These are all things
that we either choose to expose ourselves to or not.

Exposure to fragrances and perfumes actually do cause some health problems
for folks with allergies and chemical sensitivities and there are hospitals,
churches and work places that have banned them.

Hopefully the companies that make these fragrances will reformulate their
products and get rid of the petroleum-derived compounds that most of them
are based on and that cause most of the problems before we have to start
worrying about having separate rooms for fragrance-free and
fragrance-addicted folks in our public spaces.
