As list manager, I can occasionally make suggestions for the good of the
forum.

I'd like to ask members to voluntarily suspend posting on the smoking issue
for the next week.

There appears to be no budging from certain strongly held positions. That
happens. However, it means the rights discussion, while extensive, is
becoming repetitious.

I'd ask that we take a week to discover other things about the city worth
discussing. The smoking-ban issue isn't up for a council vote until July 23,
so there will be time to take this up.

Again, this is a request - I'm asking members to voluntary defer discussion.

There's no need to debate this request on-list. Whether you post on the
smoking topic or not is your call. There are no disciplinary consequences
either way.
