Thank God the council is on the right side on this
issue. It would be a shame to turn Lake Street into a
freeway. Most assuredly, it would be a huge slam to
all those business owners that have worked so hard to
revitalize the corridor. Parking is integral to the
success of those businesses. If it takes a little
longer to navigate down Lake Street I for one am
willing to pay that price. I do it nearly daily now
and I just expect it as part of the urban fabric.

If you have any doubt about how devastating the
freeway affect can be on a major commercial corridor
just drive down University Avenue in St. Paul. YUK!

I am sure the Mayor understands the importance of
creating a vibrant urban corridor, especially if we
are going to see the area around the Midtown Exchange
grow into a revitalized destination location.

Just look at Franklin Avenue if you have any doubt.
It's fabulous and they allowed for parking there.
Before they made the curb cuts the detractors were
saying there would be traffic jams back to St. Paul.
It didn't happen.

I hope the council stands firm on this issue. Alot of
people are depending on it.
