D. McGuire:

The labor contract between the district and the teachers was not created by
the teachers alone. The district is equally responsibilble for any
convolution in the contract. In this case, they both appear to be hiding
behind the convolutions and in the process, alienating most stakeholders.

Teaching and learning is not a manufacturing process where widgets are
produced. (See Liz Greenbaum's post, or David Curle's or Steve Brandt's
story about teacher Polly Smull.) And I don't think there are many
employees in the district being "carried for a year."

It is, indeed, painfully obvious that Mr. Jennings left the district casting
about in the dark for a life preserver.
