As a St. Paul homeboy, I never use Lake unless I'm going to some place along
Lake. More often than not, my business is at the west edge (Uptown, Calhoun,
Kenwood), and the only way to fly is down the east-west one-ways 26th/28th
Sts. Once in a great while, I like to just drive Lake St. to see what the
changes are - in its denizens and it ambience. It's a great place - but it
definitely requires its parking lanes. Anything else would make it another
ghetto, which persistent and prolific police presence already gives it to a
degree.

Minneapolis is a great and diverse city. It needs to accommodate all peoples
and needs. If parking lanes were needed for businesses when whites dominated
their ownership, they need it just as much with new Americans and folks of
color as the prime populations along the avenue.

I support Nathan's suggestion here.
