I read the previous posts about the modifications of Route 14, and would like to add the following insight.
The 14E (the trip to the LRT) not only connects with the LRT but replaces service along Cedar Ave between 38th Street and 42nd Street and along 42nd Street between Cedar and 28th Av, both of which used to be on Route 22, which was eliminated. However, it does screw over the people living along Bloomington South of 38th. Frankly, I saw no reason to make such drastic changes to Route 22. It seemed to work fine to me. In any event, the main folks who will benefit from the route change are the kids that go to Roosevelt High and live on Route 14 who will now have a direct route to/from school to use when school buses are unavailable. As far as all the other changes, I think the worst was cutting Route 8 to be a circulator between Franklin and Hiawatha and Franklin and Univ Ave. SE. (Near channel 5) Those people aren't gonna be happy. And the changes they made to what used to be Route 20 don't make much sense either. It is pretty obvious that the LRT stuff was done for political reasons, but what can you do? Finally, I can't wait until they eliminate route 180 from MOA to downtown and the tourists find that they have to transfer to a bus or walk several blocks from the train to their hotel rather than have the 180 drop them off in front of or near the Hilton, Radisson or Hyatt.
