According to the Star Tribune (http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4880621.html) Interim superintendent Jon R. Gurban of the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board (MPRB) is suing is former employer, the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association (MRPA):

From the article:

"Earlier this year, Gurban for 12 days simultaneously held full-time posts as park board superintendent and executive director of the Minnesota Recreation and Park Association, the parks trade group. His hiring by the park board was abrupt and controversial.

In a counterclaim filed Thursday in Hennepin County District Court, the association said that Gurban started his board job on Jan. 1 and resigned from the association on Jan. 12. "As of that time, he was purporting to act as a full-time employee for two different employers at the same time," the association's claim said.

The counterclaim said Gurban breached his employment contract by serving as a full-time employee at two places and failing to provide 30 days' notice of the termination of his contract with the association.

The association asks that Gurban's complaint be dismissed and that he be ordered to pay damages in an amount to be determined at trial."

Here's a guy who was being paid about $108,000 a year by the Minn. Rec. & Park Assoc. (MRPA) and is currently being paid $112,000 by the Mpls. Park & Rec. Board (MPRB) suing to be paid for accrued but unused vacation and sick leave, despite breaking his contract with the MRPA. A guy who owns a house on the east shore of Lake Harriet ( 4320 W Lake Harriet Pkwy) and who led the MRPA to the loss of their pull tab gambling license for two years (http://www.casinoman.net/Content/casino_gambling_news/gambling_news_article.asp?artid=2454) and is said to have lost his own license for life.

I think bad boy Jon Gurban has a lot of chutzpah -- and a disgusting attitude entitlement. With any luck his suit will be dismissed, but the MRPA's suit will proceed.
