Ward 8 Council Member Robert Lilligren invites you to a public meeting to review the current design proposals for Lake Street between 5th Avenue and 21st Avenue. The meeting will take place Monday, July 26 at 6:30pm at Urban Ventures (3041 4th. Avenue South). Illustrations will be provided to show parking, transit stops, through and turn lanes, and sidewalks. In addition, drawings of new streetscaping amenities such as transit shelters, pedestrian lighting, and street furniture will be available. The Minneapolis City Council is scheduled to vote on the layout on August 6, 2004. Construction on this project is scheduled to begin in 2005. Please plan to attend. We welcome your input in determining the future and vision of our city.

WM: The implications of the above public meeting notice make me very nervous. It implies that people coming to this meeting will be able to play with the plan and change things on it that the city council will then have included in an adjusted plan.

On March 16, 04 the Lake St. PAC voted for a design for Lake St called the hybrid design. It is my understanding that the city council can vote that plan, as it now stands, up or down.

Welcoming people's input implies that there are changes that can be made to the plan as it has been voted. I do not think that's at all accurate.
