A couple of responses: do you think that the Metro Transit folks would
of told people they have to ride 2-3 buses(don't forget the free
transfers) to take the train?? That was not part of their PR program.
Secondly: wheres the info at the stations that tells people where to
park, or that the preferred method of getting to the train is to take a
bus? Oh-no its not part nor ever was really an "issue". They knew well
people were going to park all over the neighborhoods. What I wish at
least they would do is park maybe one block away.  28th Avenue is empty;
while 29th Avenue that runs next to the 38th street station is so full
and busy that you cannot even cross it. But those "commuters" that are
going to the game at the Dome or Target center need to get to the train
in a hurry. I am surprised no one has knocked at my door and asked me
to use my bathroom.

Last night was a bad night. There was an event of some sort at the
Cardinal Bar, and a game downtown. Neighbors from the south end of 29th
Avenue were coming down are street, upset that they thought most of the
parking was for the Cardinal. As I strongly support The Cardinal Bar
for being a fine neighborhood business; and feel bad they lost much of
their parking capacity; now its even a greater challenge as their
business grows and they need more parking spots. People can tell me to
blame city planning, but I know where the blame belongs. As I listened
to loud people returning to their cars till 2 am last night, and as I
watched people obnoxiously parking and almost hitting other cars last
night on my street; I thought of how ridiculous this all is. I still
want to know all the studies and information the Metro Transit people
gained from other cities; what exactly they did with the information.
It made great PR...thats it. Great PR for the business's mentioned in
todays Taste section of the Trib; But there was no PR to tell people
where to park. Some of the people that were parking on the street last
night that I spoke to rather screamed back "how are we supposed to get
the train"? They would never consider even stepping foot on a bus-or
being told they had to go park at Ft. Snelling ( I hear the parking
there is 2 hour limit-but cannot verify that with my own eyes yet).
Our critical parking application has been approved; but that just means
theres going to be a "study". I am sure that the city council will be
at battle with Metro Transit over this whole issue. As Metro Transit
certainly would not want to do anything to affect the ridership; once
again walking all over the neighborhood.
