With all due respect, I think it's inaccurate to characterize this as an
attempt by anyone to make the union look bad.  The union seems to be doing a
fine job of that all by itself.

Throughout this whole realignment mess, the union has had ample opportunity
to say "stop, wait a minute, we realize this realignment will cause more
harm than good to the schools, the kids, and to many of our own teachers.
Let's work out some concessions and a compromise solution."  But nothing
such has been forthcoming.  The union response has been to chant "seniority,
seniority, seniority" - the same maddening persistence with which our our
president chants "tax cuts."

The union isn't the only problem.  The Board and Administration gave ample
evidence at tonight's board meeting that they are also unwilling to take
risks on this issue.  But the union is part of the problem.
