Greeting's List! I would strongly suggest any one with any invested stake in the community to attend this event. By attending you are helping us to create guidelines in which to shape our RFP process. It's also a very good time to get your opinions heard and have a chance to be a part of the RFP process. Many of us on the committee will be there to hear first hand of what the greatest needs are. BTW, It's also a time come out and meet the neighborhood reps that work hard for the health issues that affect our city.
Peace-Peace, Vanessa L. Freeman Co-Chair Public Health Advisory Comm. 3rd Ward **************************************************************** Since this is my last post for the day, I would like to comment of the Mayor's five year budget address. I particularly look for things pertaining to our youth, and I really like this idea, that the Mayor outlined. I think this position could do even more, or be a clearing house for youth items and agendas for the city of Minneapolis. Such as addressing youth violence, youth jobs, and youth programming. Maybe this person can bring about the creation of the "Dream Task Force" Youth Coordinating Board refocused Youth Coordinating Board refocused - Successfully spun off programs Successfully spun off programs - Increasing focus on coordination Increasing focus on coordination - Deepening partnership with foundations Deepening partnership with foundations - Less administration, more outreach Less administration, more outreach - Developing Children's Agenda Developing Children's Agenda YCB and Health Department creating shared YCB and Health Department creating shared youth-development position youth-development position - Promotes healthy development and prevents potential Risky behavior - Integrates YCB activities with the research, advocacy and Integrates YCB activities with the research, advocacy and outreach capacity of DFHS outreach capacity of DFHS I also liked the problem properties suggestion. Maybe this could also be a clearing house for landlords, who have problem places, and cannot or are afraid to evict drug dealers/gang bangers. Kinda like giving them some support. I do not believe that all problem property owners are bad, just plain old scared. Created a new Problem Properties Unit to deal most problematic properties in the City . - Inspections, Fire, Police, and City Attorney all working together to find solutions Our only security is our ability to change. - John Lilly Peace-Peace, Vanessa L.Freeman REMINDERS: 1.
