I agree with Russell. While I would have preferred light rail on the 35W corridor, it looks like a busway will have to do, but, having a bus-car intermingle does not make much sense.
Absolutely. BRT needs a separate right-of-way. As I've told many people, HOV and HOT lanes are a politically correct way to expand freeways without parallel development of dedicated transit.
I was at the city council meeting on Friday. Councilman Schiff introduced an amendment to clarify that LRT is not excluded from the 35W design and it was accepted. However, given the timetable for bids and construction, I think it is unfortunately pretty unlikely to happen. BRT is pretty good, though, if done the right way.
