Omar Jamal
Executive Director
Somali Justice Advocacy Center
Here we go again. I do not know Mr. Abdul Mohamed; however he is right he is an
ex-employee of Sabri properties, and come to our office couple of times. He talked
about how to develop good relationship between the Center and the Sabri office. He
arranged a meeting between us and Sabri, oh boy! It was a quite an interesting
meeting. During that time, he wanted us not to investigate anything, not to talk to
the tenants.
This is odd. Let us not confuse the issue. Mr. Sabri may be a very generous man, and
everyone knew Abdul Mohamed had a good intention to solve the problem back then. And
by the way I was never kicked out of the Karmel mall, and actually I met some tenants
today there, and discussed this new issue..
Let me point out an important point before I forget. Mr. Abdul Mohamed mentioned the
fact that when the Somali come it was Mr. Sabri who saved them while everyone else was
rejecting them. As far as I know, they were all welcomed here. No one rejected the
Somali community. Actually Mr. Sabri was welcomed here too. We are all welcomed here
including Mr. Sabri.
The issue is that it is very clear the Mayors veto doesnt make the problem go away,
actually it gives all of us to discuss the issue more. It is very clear that the
picture is murky, and something is missing here. Let us focus the issue.
