Thank you Barb for posting the excerpts from the documents. I had hoped
that the Mayor or an official would post the document and then give some
justification. I have been waiting since last night for some of those who
previously used speculation about my and Barb's veracity on the matter to
post something also. Apparently some are thinking better about the real
situation since they have been able to review the specific "Conditions"
themselves. Of course, I am sure some others are attempting to think of
further excuses and justifications or "Motives" they can create for an
unfathomable lack of judgment on the part of the Mayor and some Council
Members who may have been duped into voting for this miscarriage of justice
and fiduciary responsibility.

It is not too late to rectify this terrible mistake. At present the Mayor
has "vetoed" an inaction by the Council. Meaning he has done nothing,
unless he actively pursues it. He will be safe by simply allowing this to
go back to the council to be reconsidered. Those Council Members given bad
and incomplete information by Planning Department staff can reverse
themselves and save their reputation. However, actively continuing to
pursue this illegitimate activity is a different matter. If this activity
were to be continued it would certainly start to raise suspicions of
possible impropriety and possibly illegal influence being brought to bear.

A pattern is beginning to emerge around the City's dealings with Sabri. The
Inspection Department may have been influenced to not follow up on
complaints about Sabri properties. A couple of Council Members use undue
influence to cause improper and incomplete information to be given to the
Planning Commission, to the remainder of the Council, and most importantly
bad information to the Mayor. Zimmermann does not have that amount of
influence, so some (even in City Hall) are wondering and speculating about
who really is driver behind this scandal.

Minneapolis does NOT need another FBI investigation and scandal, such as
the one the City experienced with the last administration and Council. But,
perhaps that is what the Mayor should call for. Perhaps in order to restore
the public trust the Mayor should call for such an independent
investigation. Call for it before one is initiated for cause by the FBI
themselves. Like the McManus's investigation of the Deputy Chief and the two
top police officers, it might help to restore public confidence and trust if
an investigation were to prove that nothing illegal and untoward had
happened. Poor judgment is not a crime, some voters might have more
confidence if they knew that the Sabri scandal was the result of bad
information and judgment rather than something illegal.

For now the Mayor and some hoodwinked Council Members can restore some of
their reputation themselves. Just reconsider the REAL facts and do the
right thing. If not I predict that this will be remembered as the defining
moment of this Council and this Mayoral term. The citizens of Minneapolis
would much prefer to be proud than to be shamed.
