In actuality, only a few tenants of Mr. Sabri�s showed up to the meeting and those who attended were very supportive of Mr. Sabri�s efforts to provide them with business and housing opportunity in Minneapolis. Those tenants that are supposed to be the �oppressed� ones didn�t even show up to the meeting. There have been so many vindictive statements and attitudes by the above individuals who called for the meeting, so a person has to wonder if these �oppressed� people actually exist.
They claim that the tenants are afraid of Mr. Sabri�s retaliation against them as a landlord. They aren�t afraid to speak up. They just don�t exist. I think you need to find out for yourself how generous Sabri is with his tenants, whether they are Somali, Latino, African-American, etc. Only his actions speak for themselves.
I don�t think it�s fair for the director of Whittier Alliance to use and manipulate the Somalis, nor is it fair for Barb Lickness to misrepresent her position as an NRP employee, nor is it right for Jamal Omar to oppose what is good for his own people and claim he represents them. Mr. Graham, the �savior� of the Somalis, I ask what have you done for my people?
It is sad that many people treat us as if we are uneducated, uninformed and don�t know the difference between right and wrong. And you all want to save us. My answer to you saviors is leave us alone. We know what is good for us and we are not dumb.
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that anyone opposing housing intended to help my community is actually considered to be an obstacle for us. Once again, leave us alone. We can think for ourselves.
These people are just anti-Sabri and are trying to use my community as their front. If you have something personal against him, go and take it up with him. Don�t use us. We consider Sabri a brother and an advocate.
