Being realistic, the question on the ballot is who will join Flanagan and Lee as
the third elected board member. The
two most likely choices are Denny Schapiro and Ms henry-Blythe. Their respective
opposite positions, seemingly, on the
plan that didn't get considered by the board last Tuesday (see Steve Brandt's story in
Wednesday's Strib) serves to
differentiate them. More discussion on that plan, whose initiative was it and what,
exactly, is the opposition, is a
topic for another thread.
As current chairperson, Henry-Blythe deserves to take the hit for the board's
several missteps this last year.
Schapiro has stepped out as an effective leader on several controversial issues and
challenged the "we're all getting
along just fine" stance of the board.
