Is this message in fact from the judicial candidate, Julie Delgado O'Neil?
I ask for two reasons: 1) there are several obvious grammatical/spelling
errors; and more importantly, 2) the message states specific plans on how
the candidate would handle cases in drug court, which contradicts a
statement on her website that she will not discuss disputed legal and
political issues during her campaign.
If the below message is in fact from Julie, it will assist me in going from
undecided to voting for her opponent because I believe it is opportunistic
propoganda to refer to Drug Court as a "revolving door." A study published
in the Strib indicated that people convicted in drug court ultimately do go
to prison in at least as high percentages after failing treatment or
probation. The failure rate for drug treatment is extremely high, and
several chances may be necessary for someone to overcome addiction. More
effort at treatment is still a far better option than prison for behavior
that should generally not even be a crime.
