The 100-foot rule is measured from the door of the room where voting takes place - NOT the building itself. (This assumes the building is not public property, which is the case for Chris's polling place...13-5 is at Mt. Olivet Church. If the voting place is public property, you have to be 100 feet away PLUS off the public property. The sidewalk is not public property BTW ). Don't know if that affected the legality of the situation Chris observed, but as they used to say on WCCO radio, it's a POINT OF LAW. Mark Anderson replies: I am not an attorney and do not have direct knowledge of this law. But I was an election judge yesterday (at Ebenezer Tower), and (I heard that) we enforced the rule that campaigners had to be 100 feet from the building. We had several challengers at the polling place, and one of them told me that she had the statute with her, which indicated that the rule was 100 feet from the building, not the room. I presume this is state law? Does anyone know the statute #, or have a copy of it? Thanks Mark V Anderson Bancroft REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules?
