I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought the piece done by Channel 5 on school yard bullying was appalling in that it appears our schools' playgrounds are infested by World Wide Wrestling wanna-be's. However, what really appalled me were the absolutely stupid comments by the Assistant Superintendent (I think that was her title) for Grades 1-8. Anyone who saw the tape could not just say, "Boys will be boys."
That kind of thinking seems symptomatic of a School Administration that can't seem to get it right in any way, shape or form. The other day a friend of mine suggested disbanding the Minneapolis School system, and I am beginning to think it is not a bad idea. True, friends and neighbors have had kids go through the Minneapolis School system and do okay. But, let's face it, they would have done well anywhere because of their home environments. What isn't happening, is any improvement for those students with troubled homes. Somewhere, someone, has got to have an answer. Jan Del Calzo Lynnhurst REMINDERS: 1.
