This presumes that smokers were being considerate and playing nice in the first place. The point that I think that the smokers who are still complaining about the ban are not getting is that enough non-smokers did not consider this to be the case that City Council and the mayor were persuaded to support the ban. For those who missed it, the Governor has gone on record in in the Star Tribune as saying that he will sign a statewide ban. Given our Legislature's tendency to focus on social issues in order to avoid dealing with the fiscal mess they face, I fully expect a statewide ban to come out of the 2005 session. And I fully expect both my new representative, Ms. Loeffler and my returning senator, Mr. Pogemiller to support it.
