Now here, Eric Mitchell is not fully disclosing. Redistricting was fully intended to solidify the entrenched DFL endorsed incumbants.
The Green Party did NOT sign off on the plan that became the present map. They filed suit along with several private citizens. Don Samuels was a supporter of the coalition that filed suit. In fact, the first time I met him was at a fundraiser for the plaintiffs.
Not only did the current map force non-DFL endorsed incumbants on the council to run against other non-DFL endorsed incumbants, it took the downtown sections of the 5th and gave them to Lisa Goodman, who already had the rest of downtown, and reduced the economic clout of the 5th.
