I can see it now, a trained cadre of pit bulls biting acres of buckthorn trees, solving two problems at once. And if we could harvest garlic mustard for Garlic mustard pesto at every neighborhood potluck we could eat our way to a better forest...... It is great to hear about tree planting list members. I really enjoy Tim Bonham's posts but disagree with parts of two of his latest emails to the list. First, not only is it a good idea to call before you dig to plant a tree, but it is State Law _http://www.gopherstateonecall.org/faq.asp#1_ (http://www.gopherstateonecall.org/faq.asp#1) "Calling Gopher State One Call is a state law (Minnesota Statute Chapter 216D) designed to protect your underground facilities and the public." The other email was about the availability in the Public Library of the Theodore Wirth book about park history. I am very thankful that there are copies in the public library, some signed by Theodore Wirth that can be checked out. I still want my own copy and have volunteered for the Minneapolis Park Legacy Society to help get the book back in print. Not only is this wonderful book with great photos out of print, but the park history since the forties has not been recorded in print and because of the 2005 MPRB budget cuts there is no longer a part time trained archivist even collecting park history. Thanks, Scott Vreeland Seward REMINDERS: 1. Think a member has violated the rules? Email the list manager at [EMAIL PROTECTED] before continuing it on the list. 2. Don't feed the troll!
