Note that these are NEW committees. Any candidate who already has an existing committee from a previous election (like many of the incumbents, or previous challengers) does not have to register a new committee, unless they are running for a different office. Lilligren is running in Ward 6, instead of Ward 8, so he had to register a new committee.I see Dean Zimmerman has not filed in 6. Has he announced his intentions? Also, does anyone have any info on the three candidates who have filed in 8?
Bill Dooley Kenny
If Dean Zimmerman moves into Ward 6 and runs there, he won't have to register a new committee, because it's the same office. If he stays at his current house in Ward 9 and runs from there, he will have register a new committee. If he stays at his current house in Park District 3 and runs for that, he will also have register a new committee (or reactivate his old parks one).
About the 3 candidates in 8th Ward, some very basic info:
- Marie Hauser: white woman, nurse, current Park Board member from District 3, active in Nurse's union.
- Jeff Hayden: black male, former aide & campaign worker for 9th Ward Council Member Gary Schiff, active in AFSCME union.
- Dennis Tifft: white male, Chair of the Bryant Neighborhood Organization, active on the Neva Walker campaign.
And all three are active DFL party members, and attended their DFL Precinct caucus this spring.
P.S. Actually, these people have not "filed" for anything; filing doesn't open until next summer. They have "registered" a campaign committee, which probably means they've either raised or spent over $100.
